K-D Kennels a Iowa Dog Breeder is a family owned business operated by Karen and Dean Grell. We have resided on the family farm where Dean was raised, for 38 years. Our family consists of 3 boys and 2 girls, 1 daughter-in-law and 2 son-in-laws and we have 5 granddaughters. K-D Kennels was started in 1986 as a project for our children to earn extra income to save for their college educations. We started with one Cocker Spaniel and have grown to several breeds. Some puppies offered are Poodles, Japanese Chin and Shiba Inu Puppies. The children have grown and graduated from college and Mom and Dad are still raising puppies. Now the grandchildren are helping with the socialization of the puppies. We thoroughly enjoy the business and love to meet new people and see the smiles and sparkle in the eyes of kids, big and small, when they take their new additions home to their family. As a Iowa Dog Breeder, we strive to constantly improve our breeding lines to be able to provide the healthiest puppy for our customers. As a Iowa Shiba Inu Breeder and Dog Breeder, we have a hands on operation and handle each puppy on a daily basis to acquaint the puppies with humans to start the socialization process at an early age. We have Champion backgrounds in many of our breeding lines. We offer a 4 generation pedigree with each puppy that leaves our kennel. The registries that we use include: AKC, APR, ACA, ACH, and CCA. . We also offer references if requested. Our adult dogs are housed in heated and air conditioned buildings where they have lots of room and are able to go in and out when they want. They have shredded paper for bedding that is changed daily. We do not force any female to have puppies, we prefer to let Mother Nature do its work and provide us with puppies when the Mother is ready to have a litter. The puppies are whelped in special heated and air-conditioned whelping buildings in large pens with shredded paper as bedding. The puppies are cared for two to three times daily. We do whatever is necessary to make sure that the puppy you purchase from us is healthy and well socialized. As an Iowa Dog Breeder, we have an exceptional working relationship with a veterinary who comes to our kennel 2-3 times a month to check on the puppies and their parents. He provides the vet checks and health certificates for the puppies before shipping or delivery. We are a USDA and State licensed facility. |
